Three Levels of Prison Organizing

bin tat there are three evel of potcl organizing ere in Callbenia
rit, Te t,t achive uty, respect, nd understanding among he
‘oppressed. Secon to bl the polteal conicloumes of he people. Third,
to mobilize the people towands emancipation thru radial wets of poles
Rigatnow, eae wos on level 0

‘The fiat level of struggle is one of peace and untty, In
‘Prisons here in Cali, this was exercised throughout the hunger
ssres, But didn’t realy male an impact until the ones in 2011.
Which is when the “Agreement to End Hostltes" came into
‘fick. Due tothe influence that prisoners have out there, We can
expect that what happens in prisons is then practiced on the
_sreet amongst the baries neighborhoods. To ackieve peace and
sanity’ amongst the. oppressed and therefore spreading this
practice tothe res of the public

‘Second, isthe level of knowledge and grove, where we
‘convert the prisons into some type of school, ax educational
campus so that all that come in ca study, learn and become
part of « teacherstudent/ student-teacher method and way of
‘Wf, as opposed to the banking system of education practiced in
capitalist society, This will revolutionize the incarceréted
‘masses, whom will then take this new set of politics to the
neighborhcods-barrios to which they return, transforming the
ghettos,

‘Third and finally, i the level of mobieation. Once level
1-2 have been accomplished, level 3 isthe ey to revolsionary
‘emancipation. The land soln frm the people willbe retumed
‘0 the people. The masses will own the means of production,
institutions fromthe people forthe people will be in every hood.
‘New table of laws for the masses will be set bythe oppressed.
This will come only afer ending imperialism, and, as ve know,
‘mperiatiom will not hand overpower. [up tous to take i.
Tocachieve this, we must practic this ine not only local, but
at an international level o bring independence to all. Tis lat
level is battle and only through practice wel know what we're
up against here at home and how to defeat it

‘What Anarchism Really Stands For

‘Anarchy comes trom the Greek and literaily means "no rulers Anarchists arc
antr-authoritarians who seek to abolish domination. Its important to differatisse
between different two types of authority: legitimate (or rational) authority aad ille-
‘timate (ur rational) authority. i other words, theee's a diffreace between being
<n authonty and having authority. Being wn authority means that a person is vecog-
tured 4s competent for any particlar task based on her or his knowledge and indi-
wudual shill It is socially acknowledged expertise. Legitimate authorities are
experts who are particularly knowledgeable, skilful or wise in any particular area.
'W may be on ur best interests to follow their recommendations, but they have Bo
rower to force us to do 20, nor should they. Legitimate euthorty is this kind of
authority. the authority of an expest.

Having euthority is a social relationship based oa status and power dened from
‘atuerarchical position with a group. 1 meana dividing societytne group into the
‘der givers and ihe onder takers. The order gives, the authorities, tell the order tk-
ts what to do and they must obey. Thesis illegitimate authority. A boss, for exam-
le ts an illegitimate authority because employees must obey his orders. When
something is described as “authoritarian” it usually means that it uses illegitimate
suthority.

Hierarchy is essentally instinationalised authonty. It is a pyramidal smuctured
‘nganisalion consisting of a series of grades, ranks or offices of increasing power,
presige, andfor eemuneration. Those with lower ranks must obey those with high-
srranks. Hierarchies maintain control by coercion «the threat of eegatve sanctions
tphysical, economic, social, tc) against those who doa't obey. Hierarchical organ-
tsations are, by deGinition, organisations that are ran by elites. Those on the top, tbe
elite, have more power then thoes oa the botiom. Hierarchical authority isthe
authority that is inherent in any hierarchy. This is the same thing as legitimate (ot
‘rratwnal) authority - that is, relations of command aad obedicace. Another oamme
fe this ia domination.

Anarchiam is exreme scepticism of authority. The basic idea i to abolish dom-
ination ia favour of a socicry based on voluntary co-operation.

‘What Would You Replace The State With?

“There have bean many different visions of what an anarchist society would Look
Vike, Amy vision that abolishes the things anarchists are opposed to and is consis-
tent with the earlier suited principles of anarchism is compatible with anarchy
‘There are, however, many institutions that have been proposed by anarchists to run
‘a non-hierarchical society. Most of these are not based on idle speculation but by
looking at how actually existing anarchist societies have worked.
